Hi everyone! How's CNY for you so far? ^ Check out my dad's creation with century eggs! It's pretty interesting huh. Yeah I thought so too. Heh. The eyes were actually added by my aunt using the tips of golden mushrooms and crab sticks.

Apart from eating, I've been..... eating more. Ah wellllll, the diet can wait till after CNY is over. I've had my sixth steamboat feast and still counting!!!!

^ Typical steamboat spread. Beef, check; fish, check; veg, check; squid, check; blah, check; blahblah, check; everything, check!

^ What I always aim for. I LOVE mushrooms of all sorts!!!! But my favourites are the golden mushroom and button mushroom ♡＾▽＾♡

^ Kueh lapis, a personal favourite when it comes to traditional kueh. These innocent 6 slices of lapis are now swimming in my tummy hehehehe. Pity I felt they were too oily (they're from Bengawan Solo, btw)

^ Some yam cake from Pine's Garden. It was fortunate that my aunt managed to snag one of these cakes because she hadn't preordered this during CNY and it apparently it was "mandatory" to order in advance. I don't know how exactly she worked her magic but we were happy she did!

^ Homemade pineapple tarts my sister made. It feels comforting knowing what's inside your food. When it's homemade you know EXACTLY how much of what's inside. It's a form of eating clean, which I really appreciate!

^ Hawhawhaw. After kueh lapis I quickly dug my spoon into a pint of belgium chocolate ice cream from The Ice Cream Gallery. I love the ice cream there, it's unpretentious and straightforward. The name of the ice cream is exactly what you'll get! No fanciful names (Ben and *coughs coughs* Jerr-*coughs*-ry. or whatsoever. Brownie points for Ice Cream Gallery for being situated right next to my house! (∩_∩)

What i eat at home (i)

People often ask me, "how do you eat so much and still stay so slim?"

The answer is simple: I try to eat my meals at home!

You don't have to be a genius to know how unhealthy food you order outside can be. All that unnecessary salt, oil, sugar, blah, blah, and blah transforms ANY dish into an unhealthy one, no matter how healthy it may have started out. And all these extra equates to excessive calories. YES, THE SINISTER CALORIE. If only calories didn't exist......... Ah well, such is life. So tonight, which is the eve of Chinese New Year, Dawn the food lover is here to help you begin the dragon year with an ultimate guide to eating well AT HOME!

BREAKFAST

I do not EVER skip breakfast. If I don't eat breakfast, I get cranky and irritable and I will give death stares at people for the nothing. In other words, my tolerance for any nonsense without breakfast is about zero. We all know breakfast is the most important meal of the day. But do you truly understand WHY it's important?

It's because breakfast

1. keeps you feeling energized for the rest of your day

2. prevents you from overeating later

3. resurrects your metabolism after a night of fasting (sleeping)

Therefore it's paramount to enjoy breakfast thoroughly! Every morning I'll wake up to prepare a simple breakfast and ensure it's a balanced one.

^ Yogurt, egg, ham and mushrooms.

^ Berries, ham and (hidden) cheese toast, and some strawberry jam.

^ Blackberry jam, egg in a nest, kiwi.

Put in a little effort to make your food look pretty! I assure you, you'd have so much more fun eating.

LUNCH

^ Freak Spaghetti! It's perfect for boring days. I didn't take pictures of the end results but they look like this:

It's really simple to make. Just pierce your uncooked spaghetti into hotdogs and boil them after! Add splashes of olive oil or drench your spaghetti in tomato sauce to compliment.

^ This was made one afternoon when I reached home STARVING. I needed food that could be prepared under 5 minutes and so here it is! A gigantic sandwich consisting of ham and egg scramble. It's great for breakfast too!

^ On days I feel a little more 'Asian' I cook noodles! It's an advantage that I prefer soupy noodles instead of dried noodles because dried noodles are an evil source of extra calories! Last school semester I was doing a project based on my daily nutrients intake and I came across a local website that allowed me to see what I was actually eating.....

Chicken mushroom noodles is one of my favourite dishes to have when I eat out and I'm so glad I always pick the soup version of it! It's 90 calories lesser! I can eat 1.5 more apples with 90 calories.

^ But of course, I can't be healthy all the time even though I'm home. There are days I submit to junk food and chuck a frozen pizza into the oven to enjoy the luscious cheese and ham and pineapples and the pizza dough.......

TEATIME

I have tea almost everyday about 4pm when I'm home. It's really just an optional meal that I choose to have.

^ As you might have noticed, I eat tons of strawberries. I do! I like blueberries more but somehow my fridge is always stocked with the reds instead of the blues.

DINNER

I cook dinner on my own sometimes. On other days I eat grandma's cooking or my maid's.

Go light during dinner if you're not going to be very active in the night. That way you avoid feeling bloated the next morning.

^ All my favourite veggies!!!

^ Grandma's typical cooking. We've got stir fried prawns, roasted chicken, chye sim and shiitake mushrooms.

So now you've seen examples of what I cook and eat at home, do you feel inspired to do the same? HAHAHA. You may find it troublesome at first, but like me, you'll soon appreciate the beauty of 'eating clean'. Cooking at home has definitely made a huge impact in my life. It balances out my "unhealthiness" I takeaway from eating out. That way I've got the "healthy" and the "unhealthy", sort of like the yin yang.

If you have time, incorporate exercise into your daily life! Exercising makes a hell lot of difference, I kid you not. I've experienced the magic of exercise but unfortunately I'm no magician, I can't perform it on you. So put on your running shoes and get out there! Or in there, if you're heading to the gym.

Nakhon Kitchen @ Hougang for just 2 simple dishes!

This post was due awhile back but I never had the time to blog about it but considering there's only 2 dishes I should take a shorter time to write a post on it so here I go with my flu killing me!

We basked in Thai goodness at Nakhon's early that evening, after braving the looooong queue at the shop (it was really long!!!!). Surprisingly it didn't take too long for us to get a seat. Our orders were taken while we were in the queue (similar to how Astons work), and they were served within 5 minutes after we sat down!

^ I went 'light' and ordered the traditional thai mango salad which I declare a favourite when it comes to thai food. I loved how fresh the ingredients were and the chili used so finely chopped I actually swallowed a few, only to have my eyes welled up with tears!! This is a MUST if you dine at Nakhon's. It's a real star. The portion is just right for one :)

^ Fi ordered his 'standard meal' at Nakhon's (we've been to Nakhon's several times!) -- the honey chicken set. Deep fried chicken drowned in honey sauce mmmmmm that's the life. It was probably the highlight of his entire day! Honey chicken is a common dish nowadays, but to master the dish is no easy feat. It could turn out too sweet, or the oil could overpower the honey, but Nakhon does it perfectly. The oily taste is masked smoothly under the lingering taste of honey and each mouthful gets better and better. Wiping the entire plate clean is just too simple!

Thai food has always been popular amongst everyone. But good thai food is hard to find. That said, Nakhon is not just good, it's authentic and fabulous! Head there and you'll find yourself observing all the good-looking (I'm serious) waiters and waitresses speaking in Thai across the shop and busying themselves with the orders.

Nakhon is renowned when the topic revolves around Thai food, so don't be surprised to see that the queue is shockingly long! Be an earlybird and head there early if you're not the patient type!

Leonardo's Place and LICK @ Tanjong Katong

Last night was well-spent, adventuring the roads of Tanjong Katong at the east side of Singapore. I've personally never been to Tanjong Katong because:

1. Although I live in the central area, TK was still a little far for a person without personal transport (in short, I was lazy hahaha)

2. I always thought of TK as a place that was quite ulu

3. TK is not exactly the most accessible place. But now with the completion of the circle line, there's no excuse not to visit Tanjong Katong!

Anyhow, we settled at a cafe along East Coast road, just a few steps shy from the famous 328 Katong Laksa...

The shop was almost fully reserved when we got there around 6pm, but thankfully there were 3 lonely tables just outside the shop front. Al fresco, anyone?

^ Salad to spearhead dinner! TRUTH : I didn't like it. It was bland, because there was no dressing whatsoever, just accompanied by sprinkles of water from the mixed greens. And the jelly cubes didn't help because they too, were absolutely tasteless. And so I ended up eating only the tomatoes and raisins.

I thought we were in for a disastrous dinner.

Before I forget, I'd like to comment about service there. Poor. Honestly. We had to find seats for ourselves because the waiters and waitresses were too busy doing nothing. When we finally sat at a table the waitress took our orders..... in quite a rude manner. Instead of "hi there what would you like to get?", we got "what do you want.", in the flattest tone she probably had.

A disastrous dinner sounded even more likely now, no?（*/∇＼*）

^ But noooo! Salvation came about 10 minutes later. Here's the boyfriend's quarter chicken, barbequed to perfection in some sweet sauce. It was one of the best chickens I'd ever tasted and he felt it was really good too!!! The downside? Look at how miserable the fries are. They look terribly alone.

^ Then came my grilled dory fish with a side of mac 'n' cheese. Nothing spectacular, but it was tasty enough coming from a small cafe. I thought they could've been more generous with the mac 'n' cheese, likewise the fries, because I really liked it. It was sticky, crumbly, and had a rough texture, radically different from the usual creamy and smooth mac 'n' cheese but I enjoyed the taste of the cheese A LOT.

^ Chanced upon the new shopping mall.....

There were quite a few stalls (food stalls, of course) that caught my eye in 112 Katong, namely Obolo, Seventh Heaven and POP Cafe, and another froyo shop at the basement. I can't remember the name of the froyo place but it was a sweet-looking, pink-themed shop, a little japanese-influenced even.

Since we were around the corner, we continued our food adventure at LICK! We've tried LICK ice cream at their takeaway kiosk at AMK Hub before but I've never actually stepped foot into the flagship store, so it was definitely a yes to go there. For those who don't know, LICK (acronym for Little Ice Cream Kafe) is yet another ice cream shop which serves local flavours such as Kaya Toast, Milo Dinosaur, Horlicks and so on and so on and so on....

The flavors they serve each day vary... How did I know? I overheard a call about someone enquiring if there was the Salted Caramel flavor!

^ Nice interior and all but it wasn't all that crowded for a Saturday night.... yet.

^ Double scoop! We shared French Toast and Horlicks. French Toast was a blast for me because it tasted like my favourite cereal (Post's maple pecan crunch)!!!!! It was eating maple syrup in ice cream form...... every mouthful was joy (ღ˘⌣˘ღ)

^ And we were done!

^ Initially I skipped the belgian waffle but 99% of the tables around us had a waffle on their table. So..... we I had to. As it turned out, I was so pleased with the waffle!!!! It was crispy on the outside and fluffy and soft inside, exactly what most people looked for in a belgian waffle!!! ヾ(@^▽^@)ノ

Whilst heading back to the boyfriend's bike, a pretty looking shop front across LICK caught my eye and what other cafe other than.....

WITH A PINCH OF SALT!!!!!

And thus I confidently conclude that the east side actually has a lot to offer.

Here's one more evidence:

^ A japanese bakery cum restaurant situated right beside its parent company, Awfully Chocolate.

For those staying in the east, well lucky you!!!! There's so much more for me to explore!!!

Madam Saigon @ Millenia Walk

We went Vietnamese on Monday night! I've always loved asian food and vietnamese cuisine is no exception. The vietnamese pho is my absolute favourite and when coupled with fresh spring rolls they make a revitalising meal that feels light on the palate and yet sufficient to last you at least till the next meal. And also vietnamese cuisine are known to be "healthier", making it suitable for weight-conscious individuals who are looking for bulky meals that aren't laden with empty calories.

^ Dish of beansprouts, lime and mint leaves served before my grilled chicken pho was served. They were visibly fresh, brightening up the table with vibrant colours and pleasing our eyes even before dinner started!

^ Here's my chicken pho BEFORE I emptied the little dish of spices into it. Looks a little boring doesn't it?

^ Here's my chicken AFTER! It looks so much better! It tasted just average though :( I would've preferred if the soup had a little more "oomph" to it. It was too bland for my liking. And also it'd have scored much better if the chicken they used weren't injected with fat - I felt like i was eating chicken fat instead of chicken meat! But overall, it was edible. Perhaps i'd go for the beef pho the next time round, that might have been better considering the Viets traditionally use beef in pho.

^ The boyfriend ordered himself chicken skewers. When they were served all i could smell was the familiar scent of satay!!!! Ironically it tasted nothing like satay - it was more of barbequed chicken marinated in spices and sprinkled with peanut, accompanied with peanut sauce. This was the star of our dinner, we loved it so much! They are pretty filling too, so it's best to be shared!

^ Fried chicken wings. Just ordinary fried chicken wings.......

^ And from this sign that was pasted even before we left our table, it's likely that Madam Saigon is a popular restaurant for Vietnamese food so you might want to make a reservation if you intend to head over there, especially if it's on a weekend!

Well I hope everyone is having a smooth week! Mine has been a week of yogurt and sandwiches and healthy living, well ALMOST healthy. For breakfast this week I've had aloe vera yogurt, peach-mango yogurt, blueberry yogurt, and mixed berries yogurt! That said, my granola box is depleting insanely quickly which means i'll have to make a more-than-willing trip to the supermarket soon!

Sizzling Stonegrill (Johor Bahru!)

^ Masak masak! Here's the other half cooking his chicken pieces.

We had dinner at Sizzling Stonegrill in Johor over the weekend! It's soooo easy and not to mention, convenient to cross the borders to Malaysia from Singapore now, and so naturally, the other half and i decided to offset our excess ringgit by frequenting JB for food adventures.

Sizzling Stonegrill is one of our favourite places to have dinner because it's

- healthy,

- affordable (about $10 SGD per pax), and

- fun!

We get to cook our food to our preferred doneness (well-cooked for both of us) and enjoy the process of drenching our meats in sauce(s) provided and voila, we have deliciously healthy food!

Note: we always request for plain, white rice instead of the default fried rice that they serve. It'd be perfect if they had brown rice. It's brown rice > white rice for me!

^ This is how our food is served. By default, the boyfriend had skewered chicken.

^ I went with fish that night with no regrets!

^ Soft, juicy fish bits that i soaked in sweet chilli sauce. Mmmmmmm i could eat this every dinner.

Sizzling Stonegrill is basically a no-frills restaurant, but do note, you MIGHT end up smelling smoky after dinner! The branch in City Square is not as well ventilated as the branch in Jusco Aeon. There's not much to comment about since you're responsible for the taste of your own food. Service was quick, and portions were just right. It might be too much for small eaters though!

If you're feeling lazy to travel to Johor Bahru just for this, well there's always Pepper Lunch in Singapore. I'm not a huge fan of Pepper Lunch but for quick fixes. And I'm going to let you in on a hidden find in Singapore ...... Mysterious Cafe at Arab Street!

Mysterious Cafe is the exact replica of Sizzling Stonegrill, except pork is served. It's a shame for our (very strict) Muslim friends :( We've dined at Mysterious Cafe once and it tastes exactly the same as what we get in Malaysia. The menu is slightly more extensive but with a price to pay, literally. It's not ridiculously expensive. Still affordable! I enjoyed the mash potato though the boyfriend didn't (according to him it tasted weird).

Anyway, back to the food in Malaysia...

^ Here's the boyfriend posing with our dessert from Gelatomio -- hazelnut gelato on a waffle bowl. I can never resist ice cream or gelato - they're a part of me. Wouldn't live without ice cream. And gelato.

^ Nom nom nom. Aside from the edible portion, cute cup huh? Hehe. I'm a sucker for cute packaging and i'd bet 99.99999% of the girls are too.

Tonight i'm feeling angsty and so i'm going to cut short my words and end it abruptly.

Random musings around Bugis Junction, a virgin taste of Subway's wrap, a slow walk to Clarke Quay accompanied by japanese ice cream and a pit stop at the supermarket to grab some daily eats.

This week's been a fast one, thankfully! The first week of school is never enjoyable, with all the test results pouring at us and disappointment screaming at us. Most of us, at least. I'm looking forward to CNY in 2 weeks! Any of you done your CNY shopping yet? As for me I'm looking forward more to the CNY goodies than the new clothes I'm supposed to buy to usher in the new (chinese) year.

It's a lazy saturday for me and i've just had a turkey wafflewich that has been my favourite since christmas. How's everyone weekend going?

Kushi Yakitori Dining Bar

^ Zaru soba! I've never been brave enough to drench my soba with raw quail eggs so i leave them out about 100% of the time.

We had dinner at Kushi Dining Bar @ Hotel Windsor last weekend...

It was better than what i got at Sakae Sushi in KL! Way better!

I LOVE their sushi rice there. It's soooo soft like a pillow!!!! Kushi may be a family-owned business (I think) ran by people who aren't even Japanese (they're from China), but dayummmm do they make good sushi! And from the next few pictures you'll probably see that their makis are more like giant rolls too.

^ The first thing we ordered was as usual, the California Maki (or sometimes the California Roll). I couldn't stop eating them because the entire maki was billowing with the soft rice i love!!!

^ Deep fried chicken wings (tebasaki). I don't know how they do it but the texture is nothing like the fried chicken wings we get from frying at home, nor does it look like the chicken wings we are served when we order a plate of sinful nasi lemak at Qiji. Tebasaki is bright golden, smooth and yet perfectly crisped. But whatever the case is, they should continue doing it.

^ Skewered pieces of heaven!

I had shiitake stuffed with chicken meat, chicken thigh and chicken meatballs. Especially commendable was the stuffed shiitake. SO JUICY OMAIGOSH it's like biting into a fresh orange. Not a very good description but i'm sure you know what i'm getting at.

^ Dad's tempura udon. According to him it was "shiok".

Fun fact: my dad took the picture of the udon. He was a food photographer so if you thought that that picture was exceptionally good, well, now you know why.

^ Avocado and crabstick roll. This was my sister's. I'm not a fan of rolls. I'm a full-time maki supporter!

^ Tempura used to be my favourite dish but with age my taste in food shifted. I very much prefer salmon now!

^ Agedashi tofu. I like this way better than the cold tofu squares (i'm not exactly sure what it's called). Fried food always tastes better, no?

^ Once again, the billowing soft rice~~~~~ Heavenly!!!! (☆^ー^☆)

It's presented exactly the way california makis are but this tasted completely different. It was a warm sushi instead of the usual cold, and i enjoyed every bite of it.

^ Tamago maki - big egg + pillow-like rice = yes. It wasn't spectacular, but it's better than what you'd normally get.

^ I have no idea what this is because my brother ordered it blindly. I'm guessing it's chicken karaage. I didn't try it. But it looks good doesn't it?

^ And finally i ended dinner with a plate of salmon maki for myself. The sashimi there are served fresh, REALLY fresh. They're made to order, so you can be sure they're not fishy whatsoever. The sushi chef also rolls in a little wasabi to which i was only aware of when i took my first bite blindly. Thankfully it didn't kill me.

All these chalked up to about $120+ which wasn't too bad for a family of 5 (or 4, considering my sister didn't eat much). Kushi also offers buffets but if you're not a big eater, i wouldn't recommend it. The spread is reasonably good for a restaurant with only 2 chefs (UNBELIVABLE RIGHT?) but small eaters might not be able to 'fully utilize' the buffet. Apart from that, the 2 chefs deserve a standing ovation for their incredible speed.

And i almost forgot! Kushi is a small restaurant. It's TINY. The maximum capacity is only 16 people -- yes i counted the number of seats. So if you're ever heading there, make a reservation. Better safe than sorry!

Apologies for lousier quality of the pictures in this post, i was counting on an idiot-proof digital camera which couldn't focus well. The lightings at the restaurant which were yellower than yellow didn't help as well o(╥﹏╥)o

*Fast-forwards to the part where i say..*

It's 2012!!!!!!!!!!

How did you guys spend your last day of the year? The other half and i braved a human jam at the causeway and stepped foot into Johor Bahru for a feast at Swenson's (named Season's over there - counterfeit? I don't know but heck, as long as it tastes good i'm there).

^ I was feelin' teriyaki, but i couldn't decide between a pasta or pizza but when i finally decided on the pizza, i was told apologetically by the very amiable manager that pizzas were completely out of stock that evening (note to self: MUST order a pizza the next time i dine there).

I was pleasantly surprised by the presentation of the pasta, since i'd expected it to be of the same level as the one i ordered in my very own homeland. But no!!! It was of a better standard than what i got here in Singapore.

^ Notice the vast difference? This was what i received in Singapore on my birthday dinner. I thought there wasn't much effort put in into decorating the dish but oh well, the taste made up for it.

^ Fi ordered himself his favourite curry chicken baked rice -- succulent chunks of chicken and potatoes on a bed of rice, finished by a flood of curry. I swear he could've teared with joy when he took his first bite.

^ I love the side crackers too! And again, presentation of the dish wins Singapore's hands-down. In Singapore the crackers are thrown messily on top on the ramekin, leaving diners with not much of a choice but to clear the crackers first before sinking their utensils into the curry and rice.

Damage done = 34RM = $14SGD

OMGWTFBBQ?!?!?!?! In Singapore $14 can't get you no Swensen's, no sir~

I'm finally done with my first VLOG!

This post is non-food related, but rather a video on the loots i got myself when i was at KL. Since it's my first VLOG, please please please pardon the mediocre editing and/or any sub-par characteristics my video may show!

Well now i finally know how a TV news reporter feels talking to a camera, heh heh.

I do look forward to doing another VLOG but till then, I'm off to the mall nearby to do some grocery shopping!

Last night my parents and i went to a small Japanese restaurant just beside our house for dinner. Kuru Kuru has been there for years and i've seen it grow from its early days to the successful and cozy place it is now. And if you don't already know, i absolutely adore japanese food and i'd eat japanese food EVERYDAY if i could. I'd pass on desserts just for sushi!!!! (I wouldn't have in the past but my taste buds have undergone radical changes in the past months so it's sushi for me)

P/S Along the way, check out the names the dishes - they are literally spelt out in a Japanese way that sounds exactly like how it's meant to be pronounced in English. I was chuckling over that when i read the dishes' names slowly only to realise how it was directly pronounced in English.

^ Anyway, the dish above is called the Reinbou Maki ($9) which constitutes a mix of sashimi makis (prawns, salmon and tuna). It doesn't look at all rainbow to me but you know, food's food - if it's good, it's good. And it is.

^ Sumoku Samon Chiizu Maki ($7.00) -- Once again i can't help but giggle at how the dish is named. It's like a slow-mannered way of saying it in English. Can you guess what the dish consists of? Heh.

^ Tuna Flakes with Mayo makimono. I forgot the price though but it should range from about $2 to $3.

^ Dad ordered a Chikin Katsu Don ($8.00). It was a huge portion (likewise the other dishes) so he was certainly pleased with his food.

^ My favourite Chawanmushi!!! I didn't take note of the price but i think it was around $3.00? Not expensive, definitely.

^ Tako Nigiri ($2.00). No comments because I'm not a 'tako' person (nope i've never had a takoyaki in my life) and i totally didn't know what to expect.

^ Yakitori (3 sticks for $4.00). I.CANNOT.STOP.EATING.YAKITORI, especially the ones at Kuru Kuru. The last time i came here i had 5 of these sticks which skewered large chunks of chicken marinated in shio and tare sauce. No doubt the superstar of dinner. Dad couldn't resist and he devoured one of them immediately!

^ We had one of the biggest spreads this Christmas. Sushi, enormous 16" pizzas, KFC, chocolate fondue, popcorn.... you name it, we probably had it.

^ Square buns junior i've mentioned ever so shortly in my previous post here.

^ Yummy goodness!!!!!!!!! Personal favourites: chocolate fudge (it's most probably a hit at the store too, since they're always cleared from the shelves), hazelnut cream cheese (h.a.z.e.l.n.u.t, 'nuff said), and the banana.

^ Nicely placed sushi.

^ Chocolate pecan pie from Regent Hotel. Reasonably good, though a little too moist / dense.

That was Christmas for me, how was it for you? :)

KL 2011

^ Aromatic, sweet and salty -- all in a humble coffee bun.

^ Dinner was lots of sushi and yakitori and tori karaage. If i had to pick one food to eat for life that'd be sushi.

I travelled feather light this trip by recycling my shorts and sandals in preparation of returning heavy, which i finally did.

^ Breakfast at Krispy Kreme. Not exactly the healthiest option but when on holiday, WE GIVE NO SHIZ! \m/

^ Going in circles at a shockingly high mph isn't exactly the wisest decision to make after a filling lunch, do we all agree on that?

^ Our supper. No one, i repeat, no one can ever resist ice cream and waffles! It's the unwavering champion when it comes to desserts. A little indulgence in empty calories won't harm now, will it? (The answer is no, by the way.)

^ A gift from me on Day 3, the day we were to head back to Singapore.

^ Lunch before boarding the coach back home -- two footlong grilled sausages rested on a blob of mashed potatoes and served with slaw and black pepper sauce. No regrets there!

^ Krispy Kreme donuts to accompany us on our 6 hour journey back! So worth the 16RM i paid. It's a shame Krispy Kreme isn't available in Singapore. I wonder why good comfort food doesn't exist in Singapore *A&W shopfront bubbles from my head*

So that was basically my trip to Berjaya Times Square in KL with my boyfriend.

Apart from the ridiculous calorie intake we enjoy everyday we were there, we I also combed the massive shopping centre (10 floors!) in search for cheap thrills and hidden steals which were later a chore to carry home because they were all so heavy and the amount of space they took was like that of an dinosaur in a room. 'No pain, no gain' has never been truer. I will be doing a VLOG on my loots, so check back soon!

In the meantime, i hope everyone has recovered from stuffing themselves at hearty christmas dinners! I certainly haven't, considering i had a 'Boxing Day Lunch' this afternoon that included giant pizzas, sushi, fondue.. food food food food more food -- pictures in a separate post!

Well i'd have more to offer in my upcoming post about my KL trip, so here's what's left of Chiangmai.

Did i mention how much food i ate there? This was one of my many sumptuous dinners (and also my favourite). Nothing can go wrong with Japanese food!

I had a teriyaki salmon set - look at how generous the salmon portion is, it's probably the entire edible portion - and several plates of sushi as my sides. Love love love the california maki. Thais can make really good sushi (^v ^) PLUS they pump in lots of effort into making beautiful food - it's obvious from the rose salmon sashimi, don't you think?

On day 4 my family went sightseeing.... on elephants and bamboo rafts.

There came the ice cream man! With a cute popsicle for me! Hehe. Vanilla and chocolate mixed and moulded into what looks strangely like tamagotchi.

Of course, messy food is good food. This are giant (and i mean GIANT, like 15" across) crepes with nutella spread, mango decoration and some mint leaves! One has extra vanilla pudding on it (and that's mine) :P

Extra large plate of portobello (which is all hidden beneath the blanket of pasta) spaghetti!!! It's the biggest plate of spaghetti i've ever eaten - i took a good 45 minutes to finish it!!

Sawadee ka!

I'm back from Chiangmai after 7 days with a huger appetite than EVER. I'm actually surprised i enjoyed myself in Chiangmai, because prior to the trip i labelled Chiangmai as a 'place with no food no shopping just historical buildings'. I love history, i do, but 7 days of building-exploring will perhaps induce an architecture-phobia.

Supper at the airport before my midnight flight! My virgin taste of gogo franks and yep, definitely upped my love for hotdogs to a whole new level. I'm loving the satay flavoured franks!

I'll start with day 2 of Chiangmai since day 1 was just checking in the hotel after a tiring midnight flight...

We visited Doi Suthep, an ancient temple which portrayed immense beauty. Apparently every statue there is either gold-plated or made of solid gold. But i'm not about to bore you with ancient history so..

Fresh food! Can never get fresh street food in singapore. What's so 'unhygienic' about it?!

Giant waffle sticks and giant waffles. Good for giant stomach.

Gotta love dogs. The strays there are literally harmless.

After that we had an international buffet lunch at another hotel where i ate sushi like no tomorrow. Thais make awesome sushi.

Hands down the best coconut cake ever. I ate like 7 slices or something!? It's damn nice!!!! Yknow the fluffy kinds that melts in your mouth omg *swoons*

After lunch it was a pretty dry afternoon, just visiting silk factories and stuff so fast forward to dinner at some cultural place!

Ripped my topshop jeans :( Well actually it suffered an acid burn during one of my lab sessions in school....

Day 3

I (HEARTHEARTHEARTHEART) THE PANCAKES AT SIRIPANNA (the resort i lived like a princess in for 3 nights). They're made-to-order and god they're so soft and fluffy i could eat them all day.

After breakfast we went to try out the ATV!!!!!!! Best part of the trip, i daresay.

Some serious shit. It's actually quite scary.

I feel obliged to start my post with a million dollar picture. Look at him. ISN'T HE ADORABLE? HAHA. It's a lot, coming from me, because i hardly find guys cute (not that they aren't, they're just not spectacular to me hahaha i have high expectations don't i?) But him, HIM, as what i've mentioned on twitter, he effortlessly made my pupils dilate to about 30mm. The other half-naked dude beside caught my eye, yes, but clearly asian boys have their superior 'asian charm' which far surpasses the stereotype that 'ang moh guys are hot'.

I could've died. It was MANDATORY to blur everyone out. HAWHAWHAW. Pardon my behaviour, it's not often i see someone whom i feel is outrageously cute.

Alright, i'll stop before i disgust all my readers.

Here's my turkish dinner at MEDZ @ Orchard Central last night with Chendan and Wanni.

Food were all served HUGE portion (thank you very much) and we were surprised at how reasonably priced it was ($8.45 after GST for me, no service charge). And their service is commendable. Well first, they managed to find a seat for us despite the restaurant being fully booked last night. Second, they didn't bother that we hogged the table for 2 hours. And third, they invited us to bar when they genuinely had to make room for the long waiting queue outside (in fact, they insisted). TELL ME WHERE TO FIND SUCH GOOD SERVICE.

Lunch i made today. Chicken with homemade strawberry and agave nectar sauce, sliced cucumbers, chopped tomatoes and it's a wrap! Literally. I used a potato wrap instead of my usual wholemeal wrap and it was alright, but i'd pick wholemeal over potato anytime.

One of my breakfast, on some day i can't remember.

Fruit salad pasta.

Made banana muffins and i had it for breakfast. It isn't that miniature, my cup is just humongous.

Pita bread! It's my first time having a pita so i searched for ideas online and made a pita breakfast pizza!

Love island creamery. Love how big the portion is, love the environment, love the price, love everything.

I'm flying off to Chiang Mai tonight! I'm anticipating the flight, it's been awhile since i've been on the plane (about 2 years back?). I'll blog when i blog! Heh.

Food therapy day 1:

If you've never tried Square Junior Buns, you're missing out on life. Here are 6 of them, of which i happily ate 4. Trust me - the hazelnut cream cheese flavour is to die for. Check out their (unfinished) menu here!

Day 2:

Cranberry toasts and a hotdog with an omelette. Yum. I tried to add some joy to the overall look of my breakfast by arranging them in a way that it resembles a robot but... i have no idea what it is. It has the likes of a bear, hmmmmm

Day 3:

Ikea! Did anyone else notice that the daim cake is missing from the menu...? I miss the daim cake! I haven't seen it in awhile, anyone knows where they've gone to?

Oh well the dark chocolate cake made up partially for the loss of everyone's favourite daim cake.

Queensway curry chicken yummmmm. I'm so glad I live near Ikea and Queensway. Best foods you can ever get.

Day 4:

Here's school food for you! A massive chunk of cheese fries and mayo with a hotdog wrapped in a thin film of omelette. Comfort food can't get any better than that.

The epitome of favouritism as displayed by a Burger King staff at Compasspoint, where i had the fish soup noodles above! Look at my 50 cents worth of vanilla ice cream cone from Burger King.... and look at Fi's. Epic.

And some other random pictures of, you've guessed it, food.

This is a picture from the day my course had a picnic at the Barrage. It had the BEST food, BEST EVER. I woke up at 8am that morning to prepare nuggets, prawn balls, and hotdogs. Also tried to make cookies but the recipe i got online failed me miserably. Lesson learnt: do not follow online recipes unless they are of a reliable source! Nevertheless, i enjoyed the fried rice, the tuna mayo, THE SUSHIIIII (oh my god the sushi........ i daresay it tastes better than some you can taste in restaurants, so thank you sushi chef Jialun for the handmade sushi!)

After that 4 of us went to the flea at the sgp flyer and bought some stuff and proceeded troll along the streets of town with handy iphones and digital cameras! Pity my instax wasn't put to good use that day :(

I swear, all 4 of us did a shot like that in the hope that we would look like models. I've never put on lip gloss before so it was quite ridiculous trying to pose like a pro. Thank you wanni for the lip gloss!

Some temporary event at Marina Square. It was a beautiful shop laden with christmas gifts... I can't wait for christmas!!!!!

I've just excused myself from about 30 minutes of studying. Today i shall conquer 2 math practice papers. Wish me luck!

For people with huge appetites like myself, please do yourselves a favour and visit this restaurant! They serve japanese food in giant portions and it's not too expensive. I had five yakitori sticks and a bowl of ramen. The yakitori is now #1 in my list because a) it is huge (about 15cm!?) and b) it's heavenly. The ramen... well i've had better. But still, it was a good meal.

On sunday night i got bored and so, i picked up my sister's cupcake bible (she swears by it) and baked some cupcakes for my lovely coursemates and fi. It turned out really well, thankfully.

Also visited the Bookfest during the weekends and got myself some good reads! Am currently on The Lovely Bones, and it really is a lovely book. I don't know why I'm only reading it now, I should've done so a looong time ago.

Random meals

It was an ice cream day Tuesday. I had a cone from Macdonalds in the afternoon, and a soya ice cream from Mr Bean later in the evening. Yummmm.

Giant hotdog from Botak's Backyard. I HAD SUCH AN ENJOYABLE TIME SAVOURING IT. I was served double portions of fries so... imagine my joy.

Random, rainy day in my dr martens and a butterfly crop top paired with my everlasting pair of denim shorts.

Fattest (and oldest!) cat i've known in my entire life. Here's Candy, a lazy feline who prefers the sink to cushioned areas

My mid-semester tests are in 2 weeks and i am hardly prepared. To say i'm under-prepared would be an understatement so..... that's the state i am caught in right now.

Here are some of my most recent online buys. Online shopping can be such...... let's just say it's my wallet's worst enemy. I can almost feel the days of miserable scrimping and saving. Such is life (of an 18 year old teenager).

Here are 2 homemade waffles i had for lunch yesterday using a recipe that proved to be better than others. Originally it was a cinnamon waffle recipe but i tweaked it a little and replaced cinnamon with vanilla so i could achieve the normal 'plain' waffle taste. For the health-conscious ones, the waffle i made was reeeaalllly huge (i made 2 waffles for myself) so i suggest a single serving if you don't have a monster appetite like i do. That lousy scoop of ice cream didn't suffice even a piece of the waffle (imagine how many times i found my way back to the freezer for ice cream). Anyway, the recipe can be found here!

What i wore yesterday. There's my new pair of Dr Martens which i am absolutely in love with I could die in those shoes.

And to kickstart my day today, i had a light breakfast -- banana nut crunch in milk. I couldn't ask for anything better. Concluded breakfast with a cup of organic lemon zest tea!

Lunch! I recklessly combined ingredients -- apples, cranberrys, butterhead lettuce and tuna flakes -- and thank goodness it turned out to be pretty pleasant.

Today i made a Phineas and Ferb keychain... using magic paper which my very artsy aunt introduced to my cousins and i. Basically it turns plastic-like upon heat contact. It's $2.50/piece (A4 size) at Bras Basah, though i'm not sure of the exact shop.

I'm not looking forward to another 5 days of school. Bless me.

IT'S THE WEEKENDS FINALLY WHOOP WHOOP BEEN DESPARATELY WAITING FOR THIS DAY SINCE THE SECOND I WOKE UP ON MONDAY

SO, A HAPPY START TO THIS POST!!!! MY DR MARTENS ARE FINALLY HERE. When I saw the package in my room when i reached home on thursday night my heart skipped a beat and saw me ripping through the box to stroke my new pair of Carnabys like a newborn mmmm~~~

And this is my new ipad2 cover. Heh

Fi and i had desserts at Upper Thomson's Rocher last week!

Interestingly, we met supergirl there.

This is part of dinner at the Singapore Food Trail. Really nostalgic place crammed with sooo much antiques i've never seen nor had hands on experience with in my life (or maybe i did but i just CAN'T remember). I really wonder what it's like to live in that era, i wonder if it was less hectic. Ok duh

Failed muffins i baked :( They didn't rise much because i stupidly forgot the most important ingredient in the recipe - baking powder. *Gives self a pat on the back*

And my sister just had to bake such brilliant gingerbread cookies the next day. She's 11 btw. Multi-talented imp.

Above few pictures are random snaps i took in Holland V. To someone who asked on formspring, the breads are from a shop called Provence! It's a japanese-influenced bakery cum cafe, i think? 17A Lorong Liput Holland Village! They have a branch at Ion too, but the ambient is just.... uncomparable.

Japanese food always wins. Melvin had TWO main meals, a bowl of ramen AND a donburi. Following that 3 of us shared 4 cups of froyo at Swirl@rt (ALL TIME FAV HEEHEE) and burnt some calories by walking to The Forum, which frankly isn't that far (less than 2km i think?). We ate all the calories back by indulging in double chocolate lattes yum~~~~ Speaking of which, the xmas toffee nut drink at Starbucks is so good!?!?!!? Has the likes of burnt caramel which i appreciate wholeheartedly because it brings the xmas-y feeling hahaha

Thank you Amber (Renouveau Clothing) for sending me a personalized pair of vintage levis, I loveit and the $40 was worth every bit of hard work you put into crafting this wardrobe favourite!

Decided to give denim on denim a go and it didn't turn out bad. But..... first and last time, I believe.

These are Zara sandals that i snagged off the sale rack awhile ago. They were $129.90, but i got them at a steal! $29.90! One could only imagine the joy that was bubbling effervescently in me.

Fish braid i did for a lovely friend before lecture. I braided her hair with only one intention: to capture the beauty of braids and her silky hair on instagram.

Food never fails so here comes all the food pix! Here's a bowl of beef ramen I had at Ramen Ten.

Dutch mini pancakes (poffertjes) Fi and I shared for supper. The excessive amount of icing sugar was enough to send both of us into a sugar rush but since our sugar-tolerance was absurdly high, we added maple syrup to the pancakes and oh my lord, it was the bomb.

What i had at Kenny Rogers when Fidaus and I had a little "adventure" at Johor Bahru. DO NOT BE FOOLED by the seemingly healthy corn and carrot bowl! It was disgustingly filled with melted butter (think half-filled, or slightly more). I ate it anyway, though i tried to wring each spoonful dry of butter. The mac & cheese was literally drenched in cheese - heaven. Fidaus had a quarter chicken to himself.

Ice cream after Kenny Rogers. Before this we shared a chocolate lava cake at Kenny Rogers for a mere 5.50RM. For a cake topped by a scoop of vanilla ice cream, 5.50RM is pretty damn cheap!!!!\

This is something i cooked for lunch on a random Saturday.

I wanted to donate blood......... but unfortunately I couldn't because my iron level was too low :( Talk about unhealthy.

It should be universally agreed that my little cousin Daniella will grow up to be hotter than Megan Fox and Katy Perry. She's a chinese-malay mix, which probably explains her insanely huge eyes and her gorgeous skin tone. SHE.IS.BEAUTIFUL. So is her elder brother Daniel! Daniel and Daniella, SO CUTE, right?!

The day fi and i headed to JB for some food therapy! We sat at the upper floor of Stonegrill and had a good time eating amongst the trees and the likes of nature. Wooden chairs, wooden floors and artificial trees, and not to mention we ate off a stonegrill, literally. Reminds me of Flintstones, now that I've typed it out.

Pappa Roti! The #1 coffee bun we never fail to buy whenever we pay JB a visit. It's a pity the only outlet here in Singapore is all the way at IMM :( I'm 100% sure it'd take the place of waffles/donuts if there were more outlets. Sort of like koi and gongcha - it'll pop up everywhere.

"Econo Pack" of Koko Krunch I bought for just 14RM (~$6sgd) in JB. We had to break the 50RM note and what better place to spend some cash than in a supermarket? Along with this I bought a loaf of gardenia bread for about $1sgd.

Current wants! I desperately want the Taz polaroid. It's the epitome of cuteness.

And of course, cutesy films for my very own instax mini 25 that fi gave me for my birthday!

To my misfortune I only scored the stitch and disney princesses films. For just $55!!! Considering that the prices I've seen online recently are ridiculously high ($18 wtf?), I think $55 is reasonably priced. Get them here! ~~I'm hoping to find the rainbow/coloured films, and also the Rilakkuma version~~. I'm hoping to get every version of films I can possibly find, namely the coloured film version which is apparently discontinued and is replaced by the rainbow films, rilakkuma, toy story, cars, miffy, and hello kitty. The last two I found for about $12.50 each but that is if i purchased 2 of each. Does anyone want to share them with me?

The first week of school is OVER and I've never felt so relieved. Classes are fine, with most lecturers being nice and knowledgeable, with the exception of my QAAS lecturer who knows plenty of nothing about the module. So she's as good as teaching.... nothing.

Money savings started on Monday and it's been good. It's been awhile since I've saved. I foresee days scrimping on food and shopping (ohgod just kill me already). Not going to be any fun, but the prize is worth the torture - one hell of time in KL with the boyfriend, and also new polaroids to add to my newborn hobby of collecting polaroids.

Here are two pairs of shoes I've been eyeing on recently. Both by Dr Martens! I'll be getting Carnaby in Cherry Red first. Still on the fence about the other pair (Mary Jane in Black). Classy but.... not exactly what I'd wear. One thing's for sure, I'd never be caught dead in a pair of 1460s. It resembles too much of a construction worker's pair of boots it's hard to bring myself to slip my feet into a pair of those leather. Besides, I like playing it safe. Not going to risk looking like a clown.

Waste of film but really, i couldn't resist.

Picque Nique! Brought them there for desserts and we had whoopie pies, cakes, waffles, ice cream. Shaun decided savoury over sweets and landed himself another meal, probably to make up for the lack of satisfaction from his squid ink pasta he had earlier on (read below!). Liling was psyched that there was mac & cheese served there. Totally psyched i can't even describe how happy she was. Note that Rachel and Shaun look quite coordinated in the picture HAHA like same pose and clothes and all.

The lovely menu. I'm 100% bringing the boyfriend there one day.

Oreo cheesecake that rachel and i shared. And for photography purposes, i married the two whoopies pies into the home of the cheesecake. Salted caramel for me and butterscotch for rachel! THEY'RE LIKE GIANT MACARONS.

An attempt for an artistic-looking shot, but alas, a boring and predictable one dolled up with the help of Instagram, which still tops my list of Photography apps.

Ahhhh, the famous waffle. And for good reason, this is why i'm going to bring fidaus to Picque Nique - to have a taste of this enormous piece of flour. IT'S SO HUGE, NONE OF US COULD BELIEVE IT. I'd say it's about 5cm thick, i think.

Before that we had lunch Raindrops Cafe at Scape, where each of us had a mouthful of Shaun's squid ink pasta just so to make sure the squid ink stains are equally distributed. Also perhaps my first and last time venturing into dubious-looking food as such.

The loooong night that caused a chain of sleepless nights and headaches for me. I NEVER EVER want to sleep at 8am again.

And finally, overdue films from dinner with my primary school clique. Yes I am the only girl. Yes it is pretty strange at a primary school level. But in my only defence, i have another circle of friends from primary school and it's a UNISEX clique!!! Anyway, this is us at swirl art after dinner at Boon Tong Kee. My all-time favourite place for chicken rice.

'Boys-only' moments.

School starts in about 60 hours and i am excited for the wrong reasons -- friends, food and non-stop fun from intense discussions about non-lesson related issues.

Am also excited about my grandparents' birthday celebration tomorrow. It's gonna be at Fairmont, and there i shall be presented with a spread of food!!!!!!! Apparently the high-tea buffet there is highly raved about. It's quite weird that high-tea starts at 12.30pm though, that's like lunch, no?

polyforum was perhaps one of the most mundane activity i've ever taken part in throughout my poly life. but as always, salvation is always available in forms of friendships, and i am thankful for the new friends i've made, especially ruth, whom i have shared a queen size bed with for the 3 nights that we spent in desaru.

the room pacified most of our boredom - 3 bedrooms fully equipped with queen sized beds, fully air-conditioned, and the living room was mega huge. bathtubs included heh heh. food was good too. CAKES EVERY SINGLE MEAL.

did my feather extensions when i came back and it was no easy feat dammit!!! i had to be so precise arghhh. i'm glad it turned out well though :)

typical breakkie @ genting. this is plate #1, there's still plate #2 and #3 and so on... lol. i have to admit that i ate lesser this trip though (albeit unwillingly), i didn't have the appetite of my usual self. nevertheless, i still absorbed enough calories from the goodness of all 3 main meals and snacks in between to feel like a princess.

MAKEUP IN MSIA IS PRICED SOOO REASONABLY. all in the pix summed up to RM98, which is about 40SGD. my sole intention at Elianto (that's the only brand in msia that i trust) was to get nail polishes (ever since i tried Elianto's nail polish, i never looked back, not even for OPI or China Glaze or whatsoever), BUT, i accidentally explored beyond the realms of nail polishes and landed myself in the world of eye makeup, resulting in some eyeshadows and an eyeshadow brush. also bought my first blusher which i deeply regret because i feel like i'm betraying my natural blush which i'm so luckily blessed with. oh well.

I remember how I used to go to your place and we'd talk and laugh and enjoy each other's presence. I remember how I'd watch you sleep before waking up for work at 5pm. I remember telling each other stories of our past and what our dreams and aspirations were. I remember the first time I stepped into your house - I ended school in the evening and it was raining so heavily so I took a train to meet you at kovan, and you were amazed at fast the train was, and we had a good dinner at pizza hut together before heading to your house; it was also the first time I met your mum. I remember the days we'd cook indomee together and topped it off with an egg and how we used dark sweet sauce like it was the only condiment in the world. I remember how I'd cry in despair and how you'd comfort me and tell me it was going to be okay. I even remember the day we rushed to ntuc at hougang mall just to excavate the instant noodles section for your favorite brand of maggi mee - indofood, orange packet. I remember all those times we went out and found enjoyment in everything. I remember how excited we'd be, planning all our dates way in advance. I remember how you'd cradle me in your arms. I remember the way you looked at me - it was all love. I remember our first date when we savored our food at swensens at 3am in the airport, i remember how we watched the clouds go by and pictured imaginary creatures until it was 6am and the sun was creeping up the horizon. I remember all these beautiful memories we made. Despite all the torment we faced, I do hope that someday we'd paint those fragments of memories into a mural and share these moments with our children and grandchildren.

best.birthday.till.date. it felt almost unreal, to have a bunch of girlfriends celebrating my birthday with me, possibly because i've never had really had a close group of girlfriends until i met them. SERIOUSLY, I'M SO MOVED BY THEIR GESTURES. the planning, the ice cream, the surprise, THE HIDING (omailord you have no idea how sneaky they were in school - but they were experts at it, i suspected NOTHING).

the gist is that i'm so grateful i have them, each and every one of them.

thank you, to anyone and everyone who made my 18th birthday such a memorable one. thank you for the thought, and thank you for remembering. thank you fidaus for being so awesome and surprising me with a pre-birthday dinner at Hatched, a crazy dinner at Domino's and of course, the entire set of polaroid.

celebrated my 18th year of surviving on this planet at domino's last thursday, which was coincidentally the actual day :) prior to that, fi surprised me with early dinner at Hatched and i have to say i really really like that place, it's so open and yet so hidden, get what i mean?

anyhow, domino's was so good. all things unhealthy is the only way to go on one's 18th, no? hehehe. had an entire 9" hawaiian pizza to myself and IT WAS THE BOMB. molten cake was good, cinnastix was good, bbq chicken wings were good. in short, everything was good :) even the place itself, cos it was so deserted and we kind of had the whole place to ourselves! romantic taken to a whole new dimension hahhaa

bf also decided to surprise me with the instax mini 25!!!!!!!!! complete with 4 packs of film, close up lens, drawing pens, casing and all. more than what i could ask for ♥ i was smiling ear to ear, literally (refer to pix above, and also the post below - evidence of my hysterical smiling)

and we had ichiban for dinner. ichiban at gwc, specifically. it's our favourite place for dinner! dinner there almost every time we go to gwc. shocking if you compared how much we eat. look at hers (left) and mine (right). but then again, she had swordfish sashimi! raw and me do not go together, no, not at all

the trick to making these luscious cupcakes? ALWAYS remember to line the sides of the cupcakes with all six colours so when people look at the cupcake from the outside, it looks like you were super precise and managed to capture the gradient of the rainbow hahahaha.

hiiii i am back after six days. my dislike for school is skyrocketing but really, can you blame me? so much to do, and so little time.

ramen ten at fep for dinner!!! rice + honey chicken karaage for the bf. goodness level: 100/10, so much so that i ordered another plate to eat after i finished my mediocre mushroom ramen.

bought him to tom tom for the honey butter toast. IT IS HUGE. HUGEEEEEE (which is why i bought him there in the first place). and it tastes strangely like the cinnamon melts from McCafe, except this is nicer (to me) hehe. my first time there was with the girls and yupppp we loved it sooo much.

guess where we were.....

k i've realised it's so not obvious hahahha. we were at toastbox outside cine! good dinner at fep and we went went to scape for ice cream at once upon a milkshake after that buy my mouth was still itching for food so i made fi go to toastbox with me. i tried the milo thick toast for the first time and IT'S SO NICE!!!!!!! it's like 1cm height worth of milo piled on the toast. frickin delicious.

then..... i had another thick toast. lol. peanut butter thick toast!! peanut butter (and nutella) will always be #1 in my heart.

DOES ANYONE OTHER THAN ME LIKE GOOBER???? HEHEHE. GOOBER IS THE BEST SPREAD AFTER NUTELLA AND PEANUT BUTTER. i need some gooberrrr!!! it's been long since i've had goober at home. shall buy a jar or two asap

caught transformers 3 today! it was good but it just felt so wrong without megan fox :( i really feel that megan fox has, over the years, become a big part of the transformers series, perhaps even iconic. as for the new VS girl........ she has a body to die for and has this crazy sweet face, but it's just not comparable to megan fox. I DON'T KNOW WHY. TRANSFORMERS JUST CANNOT BE WITHOUT MEGAN FOX

i wore the above outfit the bakez and blenz for dinner with fi last thursday. bakez and blenz was so good!!!!!!!!! I SHALL TELL U WHY

1. best fruit juices ever. mine was the minty melon, fi's was the orange crush (or rush?). IT'S THE FIRST FRUIT JUICE FIDAUS EVER LIKED IN HIS LIFE. for someone who practically vomits at the sight of veggie and scorns at the smell of fruits, it's a HUGE DEAL

2. nice sandwich. my awesome memory forbids me from recalling the actual pricing of the sandwich BUT i do remember it's not expensive. delicious + huge = my type of sandwich. KNOW THE BEST PART? OIL-FREE SCRAMBLED EGGS. indulgence is now packaged within healthy goodness. good news for the health-freaks like me (k ah i know i don't practice what i preach yada yada yada but still.... lol)

3. see the waffle? SEE IT? waffles here beat haato's hands down. HANDS FRICKIN DOWN. for $4.80, we get a freshly made waffle with ice cream that is about twice the size of what we'd get at haato. at haato, the gelato is only enough for half a waffle. but here, at bakez and blenz, IT'S ENOUGH FOR THE ENTIRE WAFFLE :B so happyyyyyyyy hehehehe

quick gelato + waffle fix at haato today!

got myself the royal chocolate gelato. wasn't feeling too adventurous today, so i decided to skip the chocolate banana flavour.

fi, on the other hand, got himself the safest choice of french vanilla.

if you're following my twitter you'd know that i almost couldn't finish my waffle!!!! JUST ALMOST. it was a freaking dense dessert. fi couldn't finish his hahahhahaha owneddddd (but he got himself a burger at freshness later on). but the main point is, the waffles and gelato are superb. THE WAFFLE................. sooooooooo niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. one scoop gelato just wasn't enough to compliment the entire waffle :(

last minute pre-exam lepak session which cassandra and shirin cleverly deviced to trick wanni and i into going.

sounds perfectly normal right? the only smallllll problem is that when she called both of us, neither of us had actually agreed to go (yet). she simply used our names as a confirmation so each of us would go for sure. sneaky ayeee, very sneaky indeed. but oh so very intelligent.

so anyway!!!!!!!!!! we had a shitload of food.

1. complimentary skillet queso with bottomless chips, from the manager. everything just tastes awesome when it's free. hahaha. this was really good though. dip some chips into cheese + beef sauce and you've got yourself the perfect starter!

2. loaded mashed potato which came in a portion sooooo huge i couldn't finish it (the sugar-laden double choc muffin i had at starbucks probably handicapped my ability to swallow whatever good food in sight)

3. shanghai buffalo wings. yesssssssss nothing beats fried chicken chunks wrapped in a sinful layer of shanghai sauce. sweet and succulent mmmm~~~

4. sweet carolina buffalo wings. soaked in sauce as sweet as its name, this was the BEST dish. plus, the buffalo wings served were all boneless. EATING WITH COMPLETE EASE

5. chicken ranch. self-explanatory

6. molten chocolate cake. with a size comparable to my face, this dessert is to die for. i swear. IT'S THE BEST MOLTEN CHOCOLATE CAKE IN SINGAPORE. personally, i feel that it's better than 3 inch sin bcos it's bigger, sweeter, and the chocolate lava inside oozes out perfectly. and not forgetting the champion scoop of authentic-tasting vanilla ice cream coated in solid chocolate, rested on the top of the cake like a king. IT WAS SO EPIC THAT WE HAD TO HAVE TWO, like how we did the first time we went to Chili's and caught taylor swift :p read about it here if you haven't!

it didn't cost too much, bcos thanks to our dear shirin, what would've summed up to about $100++ was reduced by a whopping 40% to $70+. *inserts relieved face* no big burns in fi's pocket!

oh ya can someone tell me if tiramisu is supposed to contain whisky? or is it just box n sticks? i really don't know bcos i don't eat much tiramisu. we ordered it simply for the sake of desserts.

i wasn't satisfied........ so we walked to liangseah for swirl hehehehe i am a loyal customer of swirl!!! the swirl at RV though. not just bcos i live 5 minutes away from that cheery place, but also bcos the joy i get from piling all the wonderful toppings on my froyo. it's like pooping joy!!!! ^v^

thought i was gonna lose it cos my burden of a gpa in sem 1 yr 1 really dragged my cumulative gpa down and i didn't manage to meet the requirement of staying in the top 5% in my course (in translation, the top 2 in my course since my course is so puny and has only 40 people). but......... thank god

family fondue with the bff at andersen's! :) it's DIVINE. but it ruined my entire appetite for the rest of the day bcos there was wayyyy tooo muchhhhhh sugarrrrrrrr. it's strange how i can eat SO MUCH 'real food' but i can't take more than 4 b&j scoops or its equivalent

chai chee restaurant at changi rd. fi brought me here today and o.m.g the shanghainese chicken was ownage. hotplate beancurd was exceptionally good too, 'cept it was spicy. but i still finished it!!! really shows how good it is :)
